Board game help for buyers in the United Kingdom (UK): plain English, no hype.

Two-player board games

Last checked 17 October 2026 · Prices from United Kingdom (UK) shops

Plenty of games say ‘2 players’ on the box and feel a bit thin with only two. Everything here is either made for two or plays really well at two. Good for a weeknight, a café table, or a game once the kids are in bed. Each card shows the play time. Most are head-to-head, and two are co-ops (you play on the same side, against the game) if you'd rather not compete.

Why it suits this: Uwe Rosenberg's quilt game is calm, clever and very satisfying. You're each building your own quilt, so it rarely feels mean, and a game takes about half an hour. Buttons are the money, which is a nice touch.

How we choose and check

We pick games for the situation, and ignore hobby rankings and hype. Player counts, ages and play times come from the publisher's own page or the box wherever we can get them. If we haven't confirmed something yet, the card says so. Prices are checked by hand at UK shops on the date shown, and nobody pays us to include a game. See how we make money.
